Matching factory sets command a premium over assembled sets because the chair proportions, upholstery, and finish all line up. An expanding dining table has one or more leaves (either self-storing under the table or stored separately) that increase the length to accommodate more guests. Mid century expanding tables from Dyrlund, Niels Otto Moller, JL Moller, Falster Mobelfabrik, and Lane are highly sought after because they adapt to both everyday and entertaining use. A fixed-top table (round, oval, or rectangular) has a set dimension and is simpler mechanically, common in the Saarinen-style Tulip format and smaller bistro tables. Yes. For pieces tagged “Restoration Available”, both restoration and reupholstery are available as separate cart options. Restoration covers wood refinishing, leaf mechanism service on expanding tables, cane replacement on chair backs and seats, and hardware polishing. Reupholstery is offered on upholstered dining chairs with over 1,500 fabrics to choose from. Some pieces are sold Vintage As-Is. Restoration is entirely optional. Many buyers prefer the original patina and cane or upholstery on documented designer pieces from Hans Wegner, Niels Otto Moller, Arne Jacobsen, and Marcel Breuer where originality affects collector value.
