Frequently Asked Dining Questions

Yes. A significant portion of our dining inventory is listed as matching sets (dining table with 4, 6, or 8 chairs from the same production run). Niels Otto Moller, Niels Koefoed Hornslet, Hans Wegner, Broyhill Brasilia, Paul McCobb for Calvin, and Marcel Breuer for Stendig all produced dining sets as coordinated ensembles. Matching factory sets command a premium over assembled sets because the chair proportions, upholstery, and finish all line up. Use the filters on this page or contact us with your target party size and we will identify matching sets in current inventory.

An expanding dining table has one or more leaves (either self-storing under the table or stored separately) that increase the length to accommodate more guests. Mid century expanding tables from Dyrlund, Niels Otto Moller, JL Moller, Falster Mobelfabrik, and Lane are highly sought after because they adapt to both everyday and entertaining use. A fixed-top table (round, oval, or rectangular) has a set dimension and is simpler mechanically, common in the Saarinen-style Tulip format and smaller bistro tables. We document maximum open length and leaf count on every expanding table listing.

Yes. For pieces tagged “Restoration Available”, both restoration and reupholstery are available as separate cart options. Restoration covers wood refinishing, leaf mechanism service on expanding tables, cane replacement on chair backs and seats, and hardware polishing. Reupholstery is offered on upholstered dining chairs with over 1,500 fabrics to choose from. Some pieces are sold Vintage As-Is. Restoration is entirely optional. Many buyers prefer the original patina and cane or upholstery on documented designer pieces from Hans Wegner, Niels Otto Moller, Arne Jacobsen, and Marcel Breuer where originality affects collector value.
