The Hunting Chair is one of Mogensen’s most eye-catching designs. Seen from the side, what’s most notable about the chair is the sharp diagonal slope from the edge of the front seat measuring only 11 inches above the floor. The overall look and logical construction were inspired by Spain’s medieval Andalusian furniture, something that Mogensen would return to time and time again, as seen in his subsequent development of The Spanish Chair.
Designed in 1950, The Hunting Chair was Mogensen's first work with exposed wooden framing and saddle leather. The seat is adjustable with solid brass buckles, and the chair is easy to move around to different locations in the home.
Frame of solid wood. Seat and back in tanned saddle leather with metal buckles. Leather seat has canvas backing. Saddle straps can be tightened as the leather expands through use.
